Luis Ruiz

His years at the School of Architecture of Seville pushed him to sketch on the streets and squares of that city, freeing outside that obsessive behaviour he had kept indoors at home during his childhood.

Freelance architect, now he is a lecturer in Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts in the University of Málaga. He also works as an illustrator and has published eleven books, some of them as facsimiles of his own sketchbooks.

Luis is a regular colaborator in press: he has been for six years in charge of the full back cover of the newspaper SUR in its Sunday edition, where he made a sketched and written chronicle of his city titled Málaga a trazos.

Since 2015, he is at the wheelhouse of Malagráfica, Sketching Point, a yearly sketching event that has become a unmissable meeting for drawing lovers from all over Europe.

He has led several sketching workshops in many cities of France, Portugal, Russia and Spain, including an Urban Sketchers Symposium. He is correspondant at Urban Sketchers and founder of Málaga local chapter.
